Description of Trafficmaster Trackstar Plus
The Trackstar Plus system is installed in such a way that it integrates with the car's existing immobiliser system. Immobiliser systems are designed to recognise signals sent from a transponder located inside the ignition key: consequently modern cars shouldn't start unless the correct key is used.
However, despite innovations, such as 'rolling code' immobilisers, which change their codes every time the car is locked, thieves still manage to bypass such systems.
Via sophisticated motion sensors Trackstar Plus recognises if a vehicle has moved illegally, and will immediately alert the National Control Centre. These alerts continue every 20 seconds until the vehicle is recovered
The computer system developed by Trafficmaster utilises the network of Global Positioning Satellites (GPS) to monitor the vehicle's signal and track its direction of travel, speed and location - to an accuracy of five metres.
The Trackstar National Control Centre will check with the owner to verify if the vehicle has been stolen. The owner then has to obtain a crime reference number, which gives Trackstar the authority to work directly with the police.
The National Control Centre is manned 24 hours a day every day of the year, and will be on hand to update the police with the vehicle's location throughout the entire vehicle track.
Upon receipt of this information the police are able to locate the vehicle and in many cases apprehend the thief.
Upon successful completion of the operation we will arrange for the vehicle to be returned.
