Universal Kits
Universal kits, and the market leading THB Bury UNI System 8, offer all the outstanding features of a cradle kits but with the ability to simply and easily change the cradle as the mobile phone is changed, without having to completely de install the current hands free kit and re install a new one.
The Bury kit is supplied with a base plate which is mounted to the vehicle in the same way as the cradle of a conventional hard wired cradle kit would be. The phone specific cradle is then simply clicked into place on the base plate using Bury’s unique locking mechanism, no further attachments or wires need to be connected. The cradle can then be simply removed by pressing a button on the base plate which unlocks the cradle allowing it to be removed. The process is incredibly simple with an existing cradle being removed and a new cradle inserted in a matter of seconds

How Universal Kits work
Universal kits work by providing a fixed base plate which cradles can simply be clipped onto. Cradles for Universal kits are supplied in to main types, either phone specific or universal. The phone specific cradles are individually designed and moulded to work with a specific phone model where as the universal cradle has adjustable arms which can be adjusted to fit almost any type of mobile phone. The universal handsfree cradle works by connecting to the mobile phone via Bluetooth, making this cradle compatible with the majority of new mobile phones.
Disadvantages of Universal Kits
Universal hands free kits have solved many of the problems associated with traditional cradle kits and Bluetooth kits, although they still have some disadvantages:
- Cradles can be bulky and spoil the aesthetics of a vehicles interior
- When the users phone is upgraded a new cradle will have to be purchased, although this is a far cheaper option than replacing the entire kit as would be required with a traditional cradle kit
